连云港市艺术学校创建于1959年，是连云港市唯一一所公办全日制中等艺术专业学校。学校占地面积70亩，校舍建筑面积3.8万平方米，是一所文化底蕴深厚的园林式学校。经过60余年的艰苦奋斗和辛勤耕耘，学校已发展成为专业设置齐全、师资力量雄厚的艺术类专业学校。2018年，学校获评江苏省优质特色职业学校。
学校设有舞蹈表演、音乐、美术设计与制作、戏曲表演、乐器修造五个专业。其音乐专业为国家级民族文化传承示范专业、省级特色专业；舞蹈表演专业为省级特色专业、省级示范专业、省级课程改革试验点；戏曲表演专业为国家级非物质文化遗产淮海戏传承基地；艺术表演专业群被评为江苏省现代化专业群；学校艺术剧院为省级高水平示范性实训基地。
学校主要任务是为社会培养艺术精品人才和为高等艺术院校输送优秀毕业生，开设公共基础课程和专业技能课程。毕业生高考升学率稳定在90%以上，舞蹈表演专业高考升学率多年达100%。
学校组建的青年歌舞团，先后受国家文化部、中国侨联委派赴欧、美、亚、非等数十个国家和港澳台地区进行文化交流演出，并作为江苏省职教艺术团（分团）、连云港市廉政文化艺术团，每年承担“江苏省高雅艺术进校园”、“连云港市廉政文化乡村行”等演出活动。
近年来，学校被授予“江苏省精神文明先进单位”、“江苏省中等职业学校先进集体”、“江苏省中等职业学校德育工作先进集体”等荣誉称号。
